Austrian Future Pilots Program – Stage 3 (Optional)
Stage 3 is an optional step in the ab-initio pilot selection process and is relevant only for candidates who wish to apply to the Austrian Future Pilots Program. The PIT screening takes place in Vienna, Austria, using a simulator to assess coordination, multitasking and additional pilot-relevant abilities. Austrian Airlines is the airline using this assessment and covers flight costs for flights on Austrian Airlines. For preparation, the Course Calculator – Navigation & Heading Trainer develops heading calculation and navigation skills through configurable tasks, adjustable difficulty, countdowns and instant online access. It supports PIT-trainer preparation, including cardinal directions, degree approximations and reciprocal courses.
DLR Certificate Cockpit is stage 1 of the ab-initio pilot selection process for European Flight Academy and Lufthansa Group pathways. It is taken on site in Milan, Hamburg or Zurich and is available in German or English.
The LHG Assessment is stage 2 of the ab-initio pilot selection process for the European Flight Academy and Austrian Airlines. It combines psychological exercises and psychomotor tasks in Hamburg or Zurich.
Stage 3 is an optional PIT simulator screening in Vienna for applicants to the Austrian Future Pilots Program. Austrian Airlines assesses coordination, multitasking and pilot-relevant skills; flight costs are covered on Austrian Airlines flights.
Optional Stage 4 of the ab-initio selection process is a two-day DLR FQ in Vienna, with a group exercise, bridge-loading test and interview. Austrian Airlines covers flight costs on its flights; successful candidates proceed to EFA training.
