Stage 1 of the German Police Helicopter cadet program is an on-site, proctored assessment at DLR in Hamburg. It screens ab-initio applicants with time-critical computer-based modules across perception, attention, memory, spatial ability, mental arithmetic, technical/physics knowledge, English, and basic psychomotor control. Typical tasks include VFF (shape recognition), OWT (visual speed), SKT (triangles), VLR/WFG (curve counting), PPT (cube folding), RMS (auditory digits), KRN (arithmetic), RAG (math/logic), PHY/TVT, ENS, and MIC.
