What is the MIC Test?

The MIC test is one of many multitasking tests used in assessments for prospective and existing pilots. It is part of the standard selection procedure at DLR. The test puts your psychomotor and multitasking skills to the test. You have to perform a flight task (such as maintaining course and speed) while taking several instruments into account:

• Speed
• Compass
• Altitude

The challenge lies not only in this, but also in the parallel solving of the acoustic tasks (simple arithmetic problems).

The MIC test is not intended to represent a realistic flight simulation. It was specifically designed to measure your psychomotor function and your multitask capacity. Therefore, preparation with flight simulators is possible, but not always effective. We thought so, too.

Compatibility with Joysticks and Controllers

You use our MIC training module directly via our Easyflight Training App without the need to install separate software and drivers. When developing our MIC module, we paid attention to maximum compatibility of joysticks and controllers, which you can calibrate at the beginning of the test. Before purchasing, please double-check hardware compatibility here! To test compatibility, please also take a look at the table below! If your joystick is detected, the exact tested system configuration (operating system + joystick) will work with our software. Please contact us if in doubt.

Limitations on macOS, iPadOS and iOS

We recommend the Logitech G Extreme 3D Pro Joystick, which is used in the DLR Test on site.
