Career Development
By 2025, KLM plans to operate flights to 156 destinations. Depending on operational needs, new pilots may start as First Officers on European routes or Second Officers on wide-body aircraft. Career progression includes opportunities to fly diverse routes and take on secondary roles, such as becoming an instructor, as detailed in the Pilot Career Regulations of the collective labor agreement.
Qualifications
Education and Basic Requirements:
- Higher secondary education or equivalent (Hbo, Havo, or Mbo).
- EU passport and proficiency in swimming.
- Height between 1.58 and 2.03 meters.
Certificates:
- EASA (Frozen) ATPL(A).
- Valid Multi-Pilot Aircraft Type Rating.
- PBN endorsement and ME IR (A).
- Minimum of 500 hours on multi-engine aircraft (MTOW > 5,700 kg).
- Completed MCC course, Advanced UPRT, Class I medical certificate, and LPE6 English proficiency.
Language Skills:
- Basic knowledge of Dutch (B1 level required for promotion to Captain).
All documents must be submitted in PDF format, with validity extending at least three months beyond the start date. Applicants are responsible for costs related to license and medical certificate transfers for foreign credentials.

- Starting salaries range between €3,300 and €5,500 per month, with increases after Type Rating completion, as outlined in the collective labor agreement.
