What is the MIC Test?
The MIC test is one of many multitasking tests used in assessments for prospective and existing pilots. It is part of the standard selection procedure at DLR. The test puts your psychomotor and multitasking skills to the test. You have to perform a flight task (such as maintaining course and speed) while taking several instruments into account:
- Speed
- Compass
- Altitude
The challenge lies not only in this, but also in the parallel solving of the acoustic tasks (simple arithmetic problems).
The MIC test is not intended to represent a realistic flight simulation. It was specifically designed to measure your psychomotor function and your multitask capacity. Therefore, preparation with flight simulators is possible, but not always effective. We thought so, too.

I tried it now for the first time and for me it looks quite interesting, I don´t know if it´s similar to the DLR MIC, but i can imagine that it is almost the same and i know some people who have practiced with the EasyFlight Software for there DLR Test. And they have done it with succes. Thats the reason why i wanted to try it and i hope it works for me too!

I like how the test feels and how it tracks my progress over time. It also helped me to build confidence in my MIC skills for the upcoming test. But in my opinion, the limit framerate function is a little bit too unrealistic for me but still a great way to practise.

Ich habe sowohl Skytest als auch EFT für MIC getestet. Ich muss sagen, dass ich es bei EFT besonders gut finde, dass man im Anschluss einzelne Ergebnisse zu seinen Leistungen erhält. Es ist viel schlüssiger und nachvollziehbarer als bei Skytest. Außerdem hat man hier durch verschiedene Einstellungen die Möglichkeit, es so realitätsnah wie möglich an den DLR herankommen zu lassen. Ich bin sehr zufrieden!

I can run it on my windows computer, on my Mac M4Pro it doesn’t recognize the Logitech Extreme 3D pro joystick. I literally doesn’t allow to calibrate it.
