Level 4 “Final Selection” for Austrian Beginner+ Ab-Initio Program at Austrian Aviation Academy (AAA)
Austrian Airlines works together with Aviation Academy Austria (AAA) to strengthen Austria as a location and to independently recruit new pilots. With the Austrian Beginner+ Program, Austrian Airlines conducts the selection process in cooperation with DLR, while training takes place at Aviation Academy Austria (AAA) – pre-financed, which is a real rarity!
The program differs from other programs in the following ways:
- The entire selection process takes place at the DLR (and Austrian Airlines). Unlike the selection process at the European Flight Academy (EFA), Interpersonal is not part.
- The selection process for the Austrian Beginner+ program differs significantly from the selection process at the Aviation Academy Austria (AAA), where you can also complete a privately financed ATPL training course.
The following content takes place in Level 4, the final selection:
- Group exercise
- Bridge loading test (DCT)
- Interview
The final selection takes place over two days at the DLR and corresponds to a reduced, “classic” FQ of the DLR.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This bundle does not yet include the bridge loading test (DCT)! This is on our development roadmap.
The Exclusive 1:1 Coaching (3+ Hours)
The highlight of your individual psychological preparation is the one-on-one coaching with one of our aviation psychologists, your personal coach. The total duration is 3 hours, plus any selected extensions. Coaching is only available in German! Typically conducted over two appointments (online or on-site), you will receive individual coaching focused on the critical psychological elements of the assessment:
- Interview Preparation: Developing a compelling self-presentation and mastering the articulation of your pilot motivation.
- Role Play & Discussion: Targeted training for the negotiation role play ("argument") and the group exercise to hone social skills.
- Behavioral Examples: Formulating suitable behavioral examples for all relevant pilot competencies.
- Final Reflection: Preparation for the concluding interview to ensure a consistent overall impression.
- Additional Topics: Discussing "tricky" questions and optimizing your external presentation (outfit, demeanor).
Aim of the coaching: To go into the assessment with the right attitude and well prepared in order to leave a convincing and coherent impression regarding motivation as well as personal and social skills.

Appointments are made on an individual basis.
- Emergency: Within 2 to 7 days (with surcharge)
- Regular: In 8 days at the earliest
We guarantee you an online appointment within 2 weeks of booking. Typically, we can also offer an on-site appointment within 2 weeks of booking.
